Fashion trends 2022

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! Today I will be covering something really irrelevant from studying and note taking, although important for almost anyone! Usually, girls really focus to what they will wear, not that boys don’t, but at least that’s what I’ve noticed up to now. To be honest, style, trends and aesthetics are what leads every day life, I guess. So, without further do, in this article we will be discussing every aesthetic and the brand new ideas that are trending in 2022!

Aesthetic fashion:

Many people nowadays tend to use the words indie, soft, dark academia, just to define their own personal way of styling their clothes. These, are called aesthetics and yes, we will discuss them all. You may think that it is necessary to know exactly what your aesthetic is, what your vibe is and in general you may think you need to know everything about yourself. Well, that is clearly impossible, first off because we are humans but also because we don’t need to! I think it is more fun to experiment and get to know yourself while living your life, rather than knowing your every detail since you were born. But now, let’s dive deeper to the topic.

Soft aesthetic:

If not for you, then for me, soft aesthetic is a bit confusing so I’ll try my best to explain it. In general, soft aesthetic appeared as a trend to mid-late 2019, by young girls around the age of 14-16, appearing on Instagram and TikTok (social media apps). It is defined as the absolute cutesy and feminine look and it often matches vulnerable and sweet personalities. The trend is mainly consistent of pastel colors and 90s inspired clothing and has many color pallets with different tints of pastel colors. It is often used for procreate for the creation of anime manga characters, but also in many other ways!

Let’s have a look on how that aesthetic looks like on girls!

Although, those aesthetic aren’t only about girls! Of course anyone can wear any type of clothing they like, so let’s go and see what exactly soft aesthetic is for the boys!

Soft boy I believe is even more complicated as a meaning <lol>! In general, soft boy with a quiet and vulnerable personality. The clothing he uses to dress with is the same with the soft girl aesthetic but with masculine clothing. I hope the images below help you understand fully the concept!

90s aesthetic:

1990s is an unforgettable decade for art and especially music and fashion. What marks this aesthetic is high-waist denim jeans or shorts, plaid skirts and slip dresses, with strappy sandals. As for the accessories in order to rock the outfit, bucket hats and tiny sunglasses are enough!

Boy 90s aesthetic outfits:

E-boy and E-girl aesthetic:

Those two aesthetics occurred by the first one, soft aesthetic, in the late 2010s, by the social media app Tiktok. This aesthetic is a combination of Japanese street fashion, emo, kpop and mall goth fashion. It combines black and white clothes with patterns at times and usually heavy makeup and small face drawings (usually on the cheeks). It also consists of dyed hair and special gestures.

E-boy outfits:

Indie aesthetic:

Now, let’s move to another aesthetic which is way different than the previous one! Indie aesthetic, someone can say that it stands for independence and individuality. It began as well at the late 2019 and the early 2020 by the famous social media app TikTok. This style contains a variety of music genres, and uses filters with color saturation so anyone can understand easily this kind of aesthetic! This aesthetic also uses bold colors and not pastel colors unlike the soft aesthetic.

Now for the boys is exactly the same!

Kidcore aesthetic:

I’ll be honest with you. I have never heard of it, yes I have never, and I apologize guys I will try to be more updated from now on <lol> ! But, let’s see together what that is-

This aesthetic is more like bringing back your childish personality with your clothing. The clothing this aesthetic uses is mostly colorful, with many OG brands like Barbie, Nickelodeon and more. It also uses nostalgic patterns and shapes from different decades and that is mostly what makes it unique!

Boy outfits:

As you can see from the outfits, soft, indie and kidcore aesthetic are quite alike!

Skater aesthetic:

Another aesthetic, mostly seen to teenagers, that has the known “skater” effect. You don’t really need to skate, so don’t worry <lol> (I use lol way too often!), I don’t skate either! Grab some cargo pants, loose shirts that you like, maybe even a trendy summer/winter hat and you’ll rock!

Boy skater aesthetic outfits:

VSCO aesthetic:

This aesthetic creates a basic girly look but can be combined with other aesthetics as well (most aesthetics have that ability). The aesthetic occurred because of a photo editing app, called visco. The perfect VSCO outfit would be an oversized t-shirt, blue jeans (denim) and white air-forces, or white sneakers in general!

Boy VSCO aesthetic outfits:

Dark academia aesthetic:

There are many aesthetics and one more is dark academia. This aesthetic is strongly connected to straight-A students, writers, architecture both Greek and gothic. Dark academia usually uses coats, skirts, shirts and camisoles. As for the color pallet, it usually uses earth tones and brown tints. Regarding the patterns it is usually common to see the plaid one, known as carraeux from the French language.

Boy dark academia outfits:

Light academia aesthetic:

It is the exact opposite of dark academia, but the only thing that changes is the color pallet. simply we have:

As for the boys:
