Standards. Perfect body. Models. Real life. Tears. Pain. Anorexia. Fear. Guilt.
Summer vacations for some people are the kind of ideal to escape everything that has to do with the real world. Although, for many others, summertime is not so perfect because other people’s opinion really matters. And I get it. Because we’ve all been there, at least once. Isn’t it though, time to change things and be who we really are?
Hey! If you are new here, welcome to the fam! If not, then welcome back! I’m happy to see you! Before you start reading this article, you better check out the previous ones! This is a sequel to my category #theperfectionismseries which you can find by searching on my blog or simply looking below!
If you read these, then start reading. If not, you might want to have a look!
Summertime can be tough for anyone. It is very sad that we get to experience the world’s criticism without having done something wrong and simply by existing. Existing itself is not easy, and when someone can find this hilarious, many other people will probably know what I am talking about. Life challenges us every day, with many hard tasks, we need to accomplish, to finally be able to say we “made” it. But what exactly did we do? And why, we don’t value ourselves for the process and the pain we got through, to reach the destination?
Doubting ourselves, talking bad about ourselves, criticizing the way we look, and trying to master perfection are things we are not assigned to do, right? Or, are we? To be honest, I don’t know either. But why do we need to pay attention to what society says? I believe that being yourself will make you a lot happier, rather than “pleasing” society.
And let’s make that one clear. Nothing is bad. If you like to exercise, and have an amazing aesthetic life and you are happy with it, then go for it!! You totally deserve it, and I’m of course proud of you. but if you try to be aesthetic for your friends or lovers to like you, slim for your family to praise you, in fashion for your schoolmates to hang out with you, then you should stop.
Being unique is one of the many miracles someone can experience. And I say that it’s a miracle, because every day, we see copies of people. You look somewhere, and once you see a person wearing an oversized tee and cargo pants, BOOM. Other 100 people are now like this. Everyone is copying everybody else, not only in what they wear but what they also do and say. You can find millions of the same characters, the same smiles, the same make-up, the same eyes, hair, everything. Does that mean though, that those people are not unique? No, at least I think so. Being like everybody else is not a bad thing, as long as you approve of it for yourself. If you don’t embrace yourself the way you are and only copy others to seem more “acceptable” you will never actually grow.
The task to be different is not an easy thing, for sure. And that is because being different comes along with people’s opinions, something that keeps us from being who we want to be. But in the end, what is more important? Our life is based on their sayings, or our life is based on what we really dream of ourselves, what we vision for ourselves, what we want to be, and the way we want to grow? Why do we keep making more room for people’s sayings that mostly come because of jealousy or jaundice? Going against everyone else can be very hard, sometimes even so hard it will cause you to quit. But if you are strong enough to love yourself until you make it, then why do you need to give up?
Being different does not make you a minor, or an invalid. Just because a bunch of people are same with each other it doesn’t mean you should be the same with them. It simply means that there is enough room for your uniqueness to step in. It means that when everyone around you is the same, it’s your time to shine, and make things your way. Everything in our lives depend on us. What we do, what we say, what we are responsible for. That’s why we can decide our future too. It is better to let ourselves decide future, and not let others make it for us. Follow your heart, and make that dream a reality, don’t just keep dreaming.
Every day is a new page in your book. A year has 365 days, so that means that there are 365 pages in your book. Each month is a new chapter, and each day is a new page. Choose wisely. Do you want to write the same page in your book that you wrote yesterday today? You can be different if you choose to be different. You can be yourself if you choose to be yourself. Everything depends on us. Nobody can make you what they want. You simply won’t allow it. You need to be yourself and be proud of who you are. You are on this Earth because you are valid, unique, enough and you need to be here! Being different and unique is a charm, nothing you should be embarrassed about.
Wake up every day, and remember to be the version of yourself that you envision, fake it, until you make it. Be who you dream of. Wake up and chase your dream, don’t just keep dreaming. Life is too short to dream, that’s why we need to work hard to achieve everything we can from this life. Lastly, do not allow anyone to get in your way. Are their words something that you need to mark your only life with? Why do you make them valid instead of empowering yourself?
